In the first quarter of 2021, the carpooling and ridesharing sector in France saw varied performance across popular iOS applications. With data provided by Sensor Tower, we take a closer look at the trends for these services.
Uber - Request a ride maintained a steady flow of downloads throughout the quarter, starting at approximately 15K and dipping to around 11K by the end of March. The app's weekly active users showed a slight decline from 382K at the beginning of the period to approximately 334K by the quarter's end.
BlaBlaCar: Carpooling and Bus, another major player, kicked off the quarter with over 8K downloads, which decreased to around 6K towards March. The weekly active users for BlaBlaCar fluctuated, peaking at roughly 79K and closing the quarter with a spike to approximately 79K active users.
The performance of Heetch - Ride-hailing app showed a similar pattern to its competitors, with downloads starting at 8.5K and ending the quarter at nearly 5.7K. Weekly active users for Heetch also saw a decrease from 37K to about 32K.
Interestingly, Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver exhibited a different trend in downloads, which gradually increased from 3.6K to just under 5K by the end of March. The app's weekly active users experienced growth, moving from 45K to over 50K in early March and then slightly dropping to around 45K.
Lastly, BlaBlaCar Daily (Covoiturage) saw its downloads begin at 3.1K, peak at 3.7K in mid-February, and then level off to 3.4K. The app's weekly active users remained relatively stable, with a slight increase from approximately 10.9K to 11K.
